The proposal follows India's Letter of Request (LoR) sent to France in May 2026 and represents a significant step towards fulfilling the IAF's long-standing requirement for 114 Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft (MRFA).
According to reports, the French offer addresses several of India's key requirements, including local manufacturing, technology transfer (ToT), higher indigenous content, and the integration of Indian-developed weapon systems such as the Astra family of beyond-visual-range (BVR) air-to-air missiles. Why the IAF Needs 114 Additional Rafales
